HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama A&M delivered a dominant performance Saturday night at Louis Crews Stadium, defeating Tennessee State 30–3 in the Legacy Series.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Tigers early, built a 20–3 halftime advantage and pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure their second consecutive victory in the Legacy Series. Alabama A&M improved to 2–1 on the season, while Tennessee State fell to 0–3.
The victory was also Alabama A&M’s largest margin of victory against Tennessee State, surpassing the Bulldogs’ previous results in the 31-game all-time series. Alabama A&M now holds a 10–21 record against TSU.
Brown Takes Control
Alabama A&M quarterback Cornelious Brown IV was the catalyst for the Bulldogs’ offensive attack.
Brown completed 24 of 38 passes for 326 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He came out firing, completing his first 10 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
Brown connected with Jarel Williams for a 61-yard touchdown in the first quarter before finding Donovan Price for a 30-yard score later in the opening period.
Williams was nearly unstoppable throughout the night, finishing with eight receptions for 175 yards and one touchdown.
Jaylan Bean added five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown, while Donovan Price caught two passes for 34 yards and a score.
Bulldogs Strike Early
Alabama A&M took advantage of an early Tennessee State turnover.
With TSU driving into Alabama A&M territory, Jeremiah Hudson-Davis intercepted Daylin Lee and returned possession to the Bulldogs at their own 15-yard line.
Alabama A&M needed only one play to capitalize.
Brown hit Williams down the left sideline for a 61-yard touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 7–0 advantage with 8:36 remaining in the first quarter.
After another TSU punt, Brown connected with Bean for 31 yards before finding Price for a 30-yard touchdown. Alabama A&M led 14–0 with 3:17 remaining in the first. (Alabama A&M Athletics)
Tennessee State finally got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter when Preston Hurless connected on a 37-yard field goal, cutting the deficit to 14–3.
But the Bulldogs answered with two more field goals from David Faulk, who connected from 35 yards and 28 yards to send Alabama A&M into halftime with a 20–3 lead.
Fourth Quarter Finish
Neither team scored in the third quarter, but Alabama A&M put the game away in the fourth.
Ty’Jarian Williams broke loose for a 46-yard run early in the quarter, setting up the Bulldogs inside the red zone.
Four plays later, Brown found Bean for an 11-yard touchdown, pushing the Alabama A&M advantage to 27–3.
Faulk later added his third field goal of the evening, a 22-yarder, to produce the final 30–3 margin.
Defensive Dominance
The Bulldogs’ defense made life difficult for Tennessee State throughout the night.
TSU managed only 251 total yards, including 187 through the air and just 64 on the ground.
Lee completed 19 of 41 passes for 187 yards with two interceptions, while Brenton Paul led the Tigers’ rushing attack with 40 yards on 12 carries.
Alabama A&M linebacker John Robinson led all defenders with 14 tackles. Hudson-Davis finished with 12 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack and the game’s first interception, while D.J. Barber added 11 tackles.

Tennessee State looks to bounce back next week when they head to ragg Memorial Field to face the Rattlers of Florida A&M University.
